Just under two weeks after being released, Nintendo has reportedly sold approximately 1.5 million units since March 3rd. 1/3 of those sales came from the United States. Other numbers are 360k sold in Japan, 85k in the UK and 110k in France.

Nintendo has said that it hopes to sell 2 million units of the console by the end of March which seems very doable if you do the match. Nintendo’s financial reports focus on “sell-in” to retailers.

What’s the secret to Nintendo’s success of the Switch? One word. Zelda. How’s that possible? Well, the latest rendition of it, Breath of the Wild, was purchased by 89% of Switch users on it’s release date which translates to 1.34 million copies of the game being sold opening day. Not too bad for a 31 year old franchise huh? So what’s next for Switch? Well word on the street is Overwatch may be coming as well….. Stay tuned folks.
